Do you struggle to stay cool? Is your AC broken? Or don't turn your AC on because of high energy bills? Exposure to extreme
RETI is launching the Cooling Charlotte Project to provide education and relief from extreme temperatures during Charlotte's hot summers
WHAT: RETI’s plan of action for Cooling Charlotte involves: research, educational campaigns, strategic partnerships, and a texting service to provide information and alerts.
WHY: RETI’s mission is to alleviate high energy burdens, but this doesn’t happen overnight. Individuals struggling to stay cool during North Carolina’s hot summers need relief now.
WHERE: Our pilot program will focus our educational campaign for the greater Charlotte area.
WHEN: We hope to launch our pilot programs for the texting service and hydration stations this August. Also, through our strategic partnerships, we can bring awareness to these issues and educate the public to prevent heat-related injuries.
HOW: Research, partnerships, educational campaigns, pilot projects. In addition to our research, we have created a quick survey to gauge the individuals’ needs, interests and questions, which we will use to develop our texting service pilot program
